Ralliotta

The friendly interface for Rally

Ralliotta is a FREE reimagining of the issue / bug tracking, user story, and kanban features from Broadcom's Rally. It's been simplified and streamlined to provide a modern interface with a reduced barrier to entry.

Enjoy viewing all your existing Rally data in a format that is pleasant to use, straightforward and heavily simplified for common use cases.

Status

This project is in BETA. You will find bugs and missing features. Our intention is to provide a functional tool for a small subset of Rally's functionality - just the useful parts and not the cruft or strange features.

We want your help! This application is Open source. You can find the source code here and we welcome feedback, pull requests, and all constructive criticism.

FAQ

This is free? Really?

Yes! You can use our hosted version at Ralliotta for free. Also the code is free and running it on your computer is easy!

Are you associated with Broadcom / Rally?

No! We're developers who use Rally and wanted a more modern, streamlined and straightforward experience. We also found the existing Rally UI to be challenging for new developers and we wanted to lower the barrier to entry for our peers.

Why did you make this?

Whooh... The Rally UI is... dated and pretty confusing for new users. Our startup was purchased by a larger company and we were forced to make some concessions around the software tools provided to the development team. Rally replaced Jira and we were left looking at the Rally UI. This was enough of a jolt for a few people to leave the company. This project is an attempt to find the parts in Rally we care about and build a capable tool that provides less of an impediment to today's developers. In our opinion collaboration is the most important part of getting work done. The person working on a ticket (or user story or defect) will invariably have questions and we want Ralliotta to help facilitate this communication. This type of communication in Rally is too cumbersome and clunky so we're finding people don't use it. We intend to support simple things supported in all of Rally's competitors (like @mentions, bookmarkable and shareable URLs, speedier load times, etc - simple stuff but we really miss it. Maybe you do too.)

Why should we trust you? Can you see my company's data?

For our hosted instance at https://ralliotta.com two endpoints (login and avatar image lookup) are proxied through Ralliotta's servers to work around some Rally server configuration issues. All other interaction is between your browser and Rally's servers only. We don't see your data.

And even better if you instead run the application locally (instructions here) that same proxy is run on your computer and when executed this way none of your requests reach Ralliotta.com and the only interation is between your computer and Rally's servers! Bliss! This should satisfy even the most stringent IT departments.

You don't include some key feature from Rally I feel very strongly about!

Sorry to hear that, but it's not unexpected. Rally has a lot of weird fields and features we're reluctant to expose in Ralliotta. Additionally Rally is very configurable. If your setup has CORS disabled for instance it won't work at present with Ralliotta (but it can in the future with your help!).

That said, send us a message with more info to [email protected] or (preferably) send us a pull request. This project is Open source and that means you have the power! Let's make our Ralliotta useful and a joy to use!

Where do I give feedback?

If you're reporting a bug please use our github issues here.
If you're requesting a new feature please send us an email to [email protected].
